Yes this is true and you should be proud of mankind for this success.This historic touchdown was witnessed on 12th nov 2014.The Director of ESA was overwhelmed by this success and said "We are the first to do this, and this will stay forever" .
Philae is an robotic lander that accompanied Rosetta spacecraft until it made its historic touch down on the comet 67P it was more than 10 years after departing the earth.It is said that the lander was named philae after the philae island in nile.
The signal broke for sever hours and every body were tensed about the Impossible mission but when they started receiving signal from the philae lander it was exclaimed that "We are there, we are sitting on the surface, and philae is talking to us". Here's a moment of joy and success when they realized their mission was successful

The Mission of the spacecraft is to know more about the unknown universe and to discover the ancient method used by the comet to transport water and organic materials from the solar system and made life possible on earth.
